FORMER SPEAKER RT.HON. TITUS AYUBA ALAMS VISIT IDP CAMP , DONATE RELIEF MATERIALS TO CHRISTMAS EVE ATTACK VICTIMS IN BOKKOS Former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Titus Ayuba Alams has presented relief materials to victims of Christmas Eve attack Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Bokkos. Presenting the items to the assistant chairman of the IDP, Rev. Mandong Stephen Bitrus, Alams said they came to show love, concern and care to the victims and sympathise with those who lost their love ones during the attack. Responding, Rev. Mandong Stephen Bitrus on behalf of the victims expressed appreciation, stating that the camp has survived this far through such charity donations and sacrifices and hoped that things would get better for the Local Government. The Peace And Reconciliation Alliance, PARA, has been commended for its tireless efforts in promoting peace and peaceful coexistence among Displaced Persons and communities in Plateau State. DSS arrest ousted CBN Governor, Emiefele.

The suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has been arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS. Emefiele was earlier suspended on Friday by President Bola Tinubu. Tinubu also appointed Mr Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as the acting Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, in replacement for Emefiele.

This is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy. FG Blames Climate Change For High Food Prices

Recall that Nigeria’s food inflation has been on the rise and according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the food inflation rate in February 2023 was 24.35 per cent on a year-on-year basis — representing a 7.24 per cent point increase compared to the 17.11 per cent recorded in February 2022. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Budget and Planning, Engr Nebolisa Anako, who made the remark in a workshop on Thursday in Abuja, said this has led to lower income, food insecurity and malnutrition. The permanent secretary said this has seriously put food out of the reach of many. “This has indeed put food out of the reach of many and undermined the right to food thereby stalling the efforts to meet the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 that emphasised ‘zero hunger,” he said.
