Why Nigeria can’t stop borrowing – Ahmed, Finance minister.

Why Nigeria can’t stop borrowing – Ahmed, Finance minister Amid growing concerns over Nigeria’s debt profile, the Minister of Finance, Budget and Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, has said the dual reality of COVID-19 pandemic and the drop in the price of oil in the international market has made it inevitable for Nigeria to keep borrowing from external bodies. She stated that before the global health and economic challenges, Nigeria had been grappling with low revenue, noting that the crises had put the country in a difficult situation, which had made it difficult for the government to meet some of its obligations. The minister spoke recently at a webinar organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Fiscal Policy Roundtable and Tax Investment and Competitiveness Policy Commission and was anchored by a tax expert, Taiwo Oyedele, who is the Fiscal Policy Partner and West Africa Tax Leader at PricewaterhouseCooper. Plateau Must Unite: Stop The Fight Within! SAMUEL DANAUTA KYARSHIK

Plateau Must Unite: Stop The Fight Within! --------------------------------------------- ------------------------- In 1970, in the month of March to be precise, JDG warned against tribal divisions and segregation, -equality was his watch word. He warned the people of Benue-Plateau of the danger in viewing events from tribal or ethnic angles. He kept Benue-Plateau united by demonstrating what no governor has ever dared to do till date. He empowered selected men with money to start businesses to create employment for youths in the State. The minimum he gave was 3000pounds and men like Ezekiel Washik, Tilley Gyado, Paul Gindiri, D.B. Zang etc. were beneficiaries of such great ideas and benevolence from a man who didn't want to know your tribe before helping you. The question here is, where did we get it wrong? The sharp division amongst Plateau youths today is definitely not from JDG. So where did our youths learn to be very divided against each other along tribal and party lines? The...

Politicians Playing Politics With Coronavirus To Make Money —Gov. Yahaya Bello “Let us stop this game. Nigerians are suffering. Instead of the lockdown with its attendant negative effects on the people, why can’t we turn it into employment opportunities; providing clothes for face masks to be exported to those countries who have the disease? “Covid-19 is not a new disease in our clime. We have our own way of treating it and that is what we should be exploiting, rather than subjecting our people to hardship, hunger and starvation through lockdown.” Credit: PressExpressNigeria.
