The key to a leader’s impact is sincerity. Before he can inspire with emotion he must be swayed by it himself. Before he can move their tears his own must flow. To convince them he must himself believe.
Winston Churchill
The principal obstacle to the transformation of most African nations is ineffective leadership. The most peaceful environment. The most advanced technology. The most intelligent team. The most thoughtful strategy. The most available resources. And the best tactical execution can be totally outshined and or outdone by a poor leader. This is true for all nations and for all human societies. This is what I mean, it is practically impossible to build a great nation if the leader is weak. It’s not going to work. The leader sets the tone of the game or the tone and direction of the kind of change he wants to see. The leader is the direction for the entire state or nation. Every leadership style has a multiplier effect for better or for worst.
The tone our leaders in Nigeria set at the top definitely affects the behavior of the Nigerian people throughout the state or the nation. If our leaders are effective, it will be a great factor in building a great people and a great people will build a great nation or state. If our leaders are weak or ineffective as the case is right now, it will be like a heavy burden hanging over the people and the weight will definitely weight them down to the low or zero productive level.
This is why no matter how productive a people is or are within the connection and context of development, the leadership will always determine whether or not they will proper.
We need effective and very proactive leaders in Nigeria.
Like I have always quoted, John Quincy Adams said, “if your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader”.
Steve Jobs said, “innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower”.
We need to do more for the people we are leading….
